Kaley Cuoco Quips That Her Daughter Matilda ‘Didn’t Give a Sh-T’ That She Left Home for 2 Months for Filming
After agonizing over whether or not to leave her daughter Matilda “Tildy,” 2, to film a new project, Kaley Cuoco was left with a big surprise. Her toddler apparently “didn’t give a sh-t” that she was left with her dad, Cuoco’s fiancé Tom Pelphrey, and it proves she’s a daddy’s girl through and through.
The Big Bang Theory alum told Extra recently that Pelphrey convinced her to travel to film Vanished for two months, while he stayed home with their little girl. “I have to say I was really scared. Like, I had a 2-year-old and I was like, ‘Should I be, like, leaving for two months?’… I just didn’t know if that was the right decision…” Cuoco said.
“My fiancé was just like, ‘You’ve got to go. I think this is going to be amazing for you,’” she recalled. “So, he really encouraged me to go, and he took care of everything and we kind of swapped places for a minute and I couldn’t have done it without him. Like, he relieved me of the worry so that I could just totally be there and do that, and it was huge. I really have much gratitude towards that.”
Cuoco knew her daughter would be in good hands, and she wanted her to see that her mom is a hard-working woman who follows her dreams. She went on, “I also want to show my child, like, that I love to work and you got to, you know, go do your thing and follow your dreams and still come home and have your home base. But I think it’s important to show her that.”
It turns out, however, all the internal convincing and encouragement from her partner was unnecessary — because Tildy didn’t even miss her! “She didn’t give a sh-t that I was gone, let me to tell you,” Cuoco added.
Poor mama! It’s a bittersweet feeling to have your kids not miss you. On the one hand, you want them to be happy and enjoying themselves when you’re gone, but you don’t want things to go off completely without a hitch or you’ll feel like they don’t care about you at all! Of course, Cuoco is used to the fact that her daughter is all about daddy.
In a 2024 appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the Based on a True Story star gushed about her daughter’s relationship with Pelphrey. “She loves animals. She loves her Dada, oh boy!” Cuoco said. “Let me tell you, she would push me into a burning fire to get to her Dada. ‘Dada, Dada!’ Everything is ‘Dada!’”
“They’re very much in love. I know, it’s kind of amazing. And he would possibly push me into a flame to get to her too,” Cuoco added.
The feeling between Pelphrey and Tildy is clearly mutual. Earlier this month, the Task star told E! at the 2026 Critics Choice Awards that his daughter is in charge. “She doesn’t even need to manipulate me she just owns me,” he admitted. “She can be upfront about it because I’m always gonna say yes.”
