Ben Affleck Scored Major Dad Points After Bringing His 3 Kids to This Exclusive Place: ‘They Were Really Psyched’
Even being a celebrity doesn’t automatically garner favor with your kids — you still have to work at it! Just ask Ben Affleck, dad to three with ex-wife Jennifer Garner. Luckily, Affleck has some famous friends to help him out. He recently revealed that he brought Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13, to visit the set of Matt Damon’s new movie, The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan.
“You know, it’s one of those things where my kids never want to come to the set when I’m working,” The Rip star said in a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “[I’m] like, ‘Hey guys, we’re doing a thing on the set.’ And they’re like, ‘No, I got school,’” he said with a laugh.
“But they were really psyched to come visit this set. My middle child’s really interested in actually reading the Iliad and The Odyssey, and we went there, and it was really great. I mean, it was just incredible,” Affleck went on. “This is the way that Hollywood made movies, and they were great, epic, in-camera, David Lean movies.”
Affleck also shared how Nolan is serious and “believes the set is a place to work,” although he did allow Affleck and his kids to come. “I was really, honestly grateful that he let me come by and visit,” Affleck said. “My kids really liked it. And so it was kind of cool. It was really, really nice. I was deeply grateful to him.”
Even though his kids may not be too interested in their dad, Affleck is proud of them. In an interview with Access Hollywood in October, he shared, “I could not be more proud of my children. I can’t even tell you.”
He also praised his co-parenting relationship with Garner. “I’m very lucky that I got a great partner, and we got great kids, and it’s the joy of my life,” he went on. “I’m just very, very lucky, and it makes me happy every day.”
As they get older, though, his kids are starting to realize just how cool their dad is. At least, Samuel is. In April, Affleck told E! News that Samuel is “shocked” that his dad knows people “he thinks are cool.”
“He’s like, ‘Why do these people want to hang out with my dad?’ Which may be a valuable question,” The Accountant star quipped, “but I’m getting away with it.”
