Today's Generation Is Getting Their Own 'Planes Trains & Automobiles,' Starring a Gen Z Heartthrob
In an age of remakes and sequels, Amazon MGM Studios is taking a new approach — a new film that pays homage to everything we love from a 1980s hit.
Per Deadline, Upgraded filmmaker Carlson Young will direct a holiday movie that Amazon is billing as a Planes Trains and Automobiles for today’s generation. Titled Clashing Through the Snow, the film has one major ingredient that might solidify its popularity among younger viewers: Christopher Briney.
The actor, who stole the hearts of Gen Z and Gen Alpha as Conrad Fisher in The Summer I Turned Pretty, is sure to attract audiences, especially as fans await the movie adaptation of TSITP.
We don’t yet know much about the plot of the film, or how it’s similar to Planes Trains and Automobiles (though the film’s title sparks a few thoughts). However, we do know that the screenplay was written by Love Hard writers Daniel Mackey and Rebecca Ewing.
Production is set to kick off in February, and the film is targeting a 2026 holiday release. So, young fans can expect to see a very different side to Briney before he returns as Conrad in the upcoming TSITP movie.
First, though, we can likely expect to see Briney in a new role sometime early this summer when the fifth season of Hacks releases. Briney, who previously starred in also starred in the Paramount musical film Mean Girls. He’ll next be seen in a recurring role on Hacks. Briney made his film debut opposite Ben Kingsley in Daliland. He’s also starring in The Julia Set opposite One Battle After Another star Chase Infiniti and Jason Isaacs.
