Amy Robach Accused of Buying Her Own Engagement Ring For Engagement to ‘Notoriously Cheap’ T. J. Holmes
It’s been three years since news broke of Amy Robach and T. J. Holmes‘ GMA3 affair, but drama still follows them.
A source told RadarOnline in a report published on January 2 that Robach — who got engaged to Holmes in September 2025 after three years of dating — is facing speculation from her inner circle that she bought her own engagement ring. “Amy’s net worth is around $50 million. TJ’s is about $7 million. Everyone knows she’s always had the bigger paycheck. The bigger severance. The bigger savings,” the insider said. “Amy wanted the fairytale. T.J. wanted the photo op. The ring looks like his taste and her budget.”
The source also claimed that Holmes‘ “notoriously cheap” reputation may have also motivated Robach’s alleged decision to buy her own engagement ring. “If she bought her own ring, it wouldn’t be the first time she paid for love,” the insider said.
Robach and Holmes announced their engagement on the October 14 episode of their podcast, “Amy & T. J.” “We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged and we’ve been engaged for just about a month now,” Robach said at the time. Holmes added, “We wanted to let you all know before anybody else was able to. We’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship.”
Holmes also joked that Robach had been “dangling a ring in everybody’s face every chance you could, and nobody said a word.” Robach, for her part, added that she “very proudly” wore her ring in public, expecting a reaction, but it never happened.”
“I was in three massive football stadiums three weekends in a row, wearing my engagement ring very proudly, very excitedly, and kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what’s that?’ And it never happened,” she said. “And if people saw it, maybe they were just being polite.”
After Holmes and Robach’s engagement, a source told RadarOnline in a report published on November 22 that the two are planning to use their relationship news to position themselves back in the spotlight after getting fired from GMA3 in 2022 following their cheating scandal. “T.J. and Amy are desperate to revive their image, and they’re hoping this engagement will help them with that,” an insider said. “They want people to see them as a couple who are madly in love and to finally break free from that homewrecker tag that’s haunted them ever since they got together.”
At the time of the scandal, Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue, while Holmes was married to lawyer Marilee Fiebig. The source also added that Robach and Holmes are “committed” to staying together, despite the dramatic way their relationship started. : “What’s of equal if not more importance to them is regaining their career momentum – both individually and as a couple. They’re two of the most ambitious people you could ever meet, and every decision they make is somewhat calculated in order to tie in with their career goals,” the source said.
The insider continued, “In their minds, they’ll be a lot more hirable, or so they hope, as a married couple and not just boyfriend and girlfriend.” The source also claimed that Robach and Holmes are considering adopting a child. “They’re hoping to add a baby to the mix sooner rather than later, which will also be key to their overall image strategy,” the insider said.
