Andy Cohen Admits He ‘Burst Into Tears’ After Son Ben Reached This Huge Milestone
First words are sweet and first steps are exciting, but there’s something about first lost tooth that makes us so emotional. It’s a milestone that truly feels like a “big kid” one, and officially shows that your baby is no longer little. Andy Cohen is going through it with his son Ben, 6, and we’re sending all the hugs.
The Bravo TV host revealed that Ben recently lost his first tooth, which made Cohen cry. “He was walking in, and I’m watching him…you know, watching a child from behind, you know, when you watch them go in somewhere, and you’re looking at them from behind with their big backpack. I burst into tears,” Cohen said on his radio show, per PEOPLE.
And it wasn’t just a little teary-eyed. “I was sobbing in front of Ben’s school,” Cohen admitted. “Looking at the pride that he had and how excited he was, and that was his first tooth, and he’ll never have this again. And I was sobbing down the whole street today on the way home.”
Aww! Bless his poor heart, that sounds awful. I remember feeling the same way when my now-8-year-old lost his first tooth, and nothing prepares you for seeing them grow up this quickly.
Later, Cohen revealed that Ben got $5 for his first lost tooth, but the tooth fairy will only bring a $2 bill for every tooth after.
The Watch What Happens Live host, who is also dad to 3-year-old Lucy, then shared a video from moments after Ben woke up. “Tooth fairy reaction: Caught on tape!” Cohen wrote over a video on his Instagram story. From off-camera, Ben says “Five bucks!”
Cohen asked where he got it and Ben answered. “Tooth Fairy!” Ben replied.
“No!” Cohen said. “Are you kidding?” So cute!
In October, Cohen appeared on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, he opened up about being a single dad. “I’ve been single far longer than I’ve been with people,” he said, per Bravo. “But I like being single. I have a really good life, so I haven’t been, like, ‘Oh, I’m so lonely.’ And then my kids wound up saving my life. Having kids later in life was the greatest thing I’ve ever done. It’s awesome. I have a family. It’s great.”
