There are some trends that come and go, but one thing that’s firmly a part of our holiday celebrations now is edible and drinkable advent calendars that are for grown-ups. Why should kids get all the fun, when we like candy and chocolate, too? But the advent calendar offerings for adults don’t stick strictly to candy. Every year, Costco has a selection of adult advent calendars featuring fun alcoholic beverages, from beer to wine. And this year, there’s a new drinkable advent calendar at Costco that we can’t wait to try: it’s full of canned cocktails!
If you’re anything like us, you’ve welcomed the canned cocktails trend with open arms. There was a time when canned cocktails and canned wine were looked down upon, but these days, the craft of making canned cocktails that actually taste good has been perfected. Costco’s 12 Nights of Cocktails Advent Calendar (item number 1003084) comes from Portland, Oregon company Straightaway Cocktails, and the offerings are definitely worth getting excited over. If you’re not a Costco member yet, holiday shopping season is the perfect time to sign up.
So, what can you expect inside the calendar? Canned cocktails including a Thai Gimlet, a Nitro Espresso Martini made with Stumptown Coffee, a Maple Old Fashioned, a Pacific Paloma, and more. Serve each canned cocktail over ice or in a martini glass, and you’d swear you were sipping something at a craft cocktail bar.
The Straightaway 12 Nights of Cocktails advent calendar is available at select Costco locations only, so you might want to call your store ahead of time to see if it’s in stock. But if your local store doesn’t have them, you can try out Straightaway’s canned cocktails on their online store. You can choose from a Short Drink Sampler Set, which includes a 4 Pack of each Lintik (a lemony gin-based cocktail), Margarita, Negroni, and Oregon Old Fashioned canned cocktails. There’s also a Long Drink Sampler Set, which includes 4-packs of their canned Nitro Gin Fizz, White Tea Vodka Soda, and Paloma.
