After a bumpy start to her breastfeeding journey with baby Rhiannon, Jenna Dewan seems to have hit her stride. She shared intimate new photos nursing her 2-month-old daughter, who she shares with fiancé Steve Kazee, and she is glowing with pure bliss.
“Two months with Rhi ????” The Rookie star wrote on Instagram Wednesday. In the pictures, she’s lying on her side in bed, with one arm out to the side for support and the other wrapped around to cradle Rhiannon. She is topless under the sheets and looks totally comfortable as Rhiannon nurses from a side-lying position. Dewan closes her eyes and smiles, soaking up the moment, and Rhiannon has her eyes wide open, with one tiny hand out for support. Her arm is starting to get those chunky little baby rolls that are so cute. She is growing up so fast!
The second picture is a close-up of the Step Up alum and her daughter. It’s focused on Rhiannon, who is gazing up at her mom with wide eyes as she breastfeeds. Dewan is glowing with love for her daughter.
“Heaven is nursing laying down ????,” one person commented, while another wrote, “So beautiful and happy for you ????”
Some people left negative comments, as if moms should ever feel bad for feeding their babies. “Why do u insist on showing everyone you breast feed? You can just tell us, we will believe you, I promise,” one person snarkily wrote. Others defended her, like this commenter, “You have my utmost respect. Many mothers hide when breastfeeding, but it is simply natural and so healthy for the child. I didn’t care if I was in public, if my children were hungry, they ate the breast. was totally normal for me.” Exactly!
Dewan’s breastfeeding journey started out wonderfully. “One week of bliss,” she captioned a set of photos, including one with Rhiannon nursing in a tiny fluffy tutu. But from there, it took a turn when she developed mastitis. Earlier this month, she shared photos of many of the remedies she used to deal with this painful condition, including placing sliced potatoes, cold compresses, and a heating pad over her breasts, as well as taking antibiotics and pain medicine.
“Now that I’ve survived mastitis I can confidently say … mamas I FEEL you. The amount of times I googled ‘will I ever feel better’ ????????????,” Dewan, who is also mom to Callum, 4, with Kazee and Everly, 11, with ex Channing Tatum, wrote. She thanked moms who shared their suggestions to ease the pain, adding, “What an experience to show how powerful and supportive we can all be for each other.”
It’s so good to see Dewan feeling better and being able to finally enjoy those special moments of connection while breastfeeding. Moms are truly spectacular.
Feeding little ones isn’t a one-size-fits-all journey, and these celebrity moms are advocating for extended breastfeeding.
