It seems like it is only a matter of time before Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce take their love story to the next level with an engagement and a trip down the aisle. While the two are definitely thinking about the future, Swifties know that their queen is not one to simply let things happen — she’s a planner. There’s allegedly already a guest list. But who does the planner bring on as the maid of honor to do some of the most important event planning ever? For Swift, it looks like none other than Cara Delevingne.
Swift and Delevingne’s friendship goes way back to 2013, blossoming after a chance encounter at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Delevingne quickly became a part of Swift’s Squad, and the bond between the singer-songwriter and the actress-model has only strengthened over the years. Delevingne joined Swift on her 1989 tour and has popped up for vacations and other squad occasions with Swift. More recently, Delevingne was seen cheering for Swift during her star-studded London show on June 21.
“Taylor adores Cara. She was one of the people really pulling for her when she went through her hard time and she’s never forgotten that,” insider shared with Life & Style Magazine. The admiration and respect are evidently mutual, too: “Cara really looks up to her and is so in awe of all that she’s achieved.”
Despite their busy schedules leaving less time for IRL hangouts, the source emphasizes that, “they always stayed in touch. And whenever Cara’s name comes up, Taylor is quick to praise her as one of her favorite people in the world.”
Given how large and impressive Swift’s squad is, the source further revealed that this would definitely be a tough choice for the singer. While many might speculate Blake Lively to be the obvious choice, “the way things are shaping up these days, Cara’s a frontrunner,” the insider added.
“She says Cara has so much depth than people give her credit for, and she loves how she can make the simplest things so much fun,” the insider added. And who wouldn’t want someone who can make everything fun be in charge of, say, planning the bachelorette party?
Even with a team as large as Swift’s, being a maid of honor is still a ton of pressure — one the insider claims Delevingne is perfect for, and not just because she knows how to crank up the fun. “One of the most important jobs for the maid of honor is planning the bachelorette party and keeping Taylor calm and happy during the big day, and there’s no one better for that than Cara,” the source concluded.
While Delevingne seems like a great contender for the role, Swift and Kelce need to get engaged before any maid of honor decisions are set in stone.
