Incoming President Donald Trump announced that Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) will leave her leadership role in the House to serve as the ambassador to the United Nations. Her seat will become the first in what could be several vacancies in the House GOP.
NOTUS wrote Monday that while some congressional races haven't been called, the House is likely to continue the narrow balance of power.
"GOP leaders won’t have much bandwidth beyond a simple majority if they keep the House. Every single vote will matter — each illness, family emergency, delayed flight or snowstorm will threaten to derail House leadership’s plans, as will each member picked up by the Trump transition team," the report said.

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL) is another GOP lawmaker who could be tapped for the administration.
“It’s going to be hard to pass anything anyways,” one House Republican told NOTUS.
The member said a two-seat majority “for us is basically us being in the minority. Especially if the speaker can’t get a hold of his conference.”
Republicans are expected to have a 53-seat majority in the Senate. It will become a test for the right's thoughts on the filibuster with a 60-vote threshold to pass any legislation, the same problem Democrats faced for the past four years.
