MSNB's Mika Brzezinski was aghast watching Donald Trump insult Detroit while visiting the city and ramble at length about groceries.
The former president spoke for more than two hours at the Detroit Economic Club, where he warned "our whole country will end up being like Detroit" if Kamala Harris was elected, proposed a tax deduction for car loans and mused about the cost of food.
"The word 'grocery,' yeah, it's a sort of simple word, but it sort of means like everything you eat," Trump said at one point. "The stomach is speaking, it always does."

The "Morning Joe" co-host was shocked by Trump's inability to remain on topic or possibly realize which city he was visiting.
"He was bashing Detroit to Detroit," Brzezinski said. "I don't think he knew he was doing that. That's another issue – like, what? I don't think he knows what he is talking about. If he did, you wouldn't, would you, insult a city to the city?"
"I mean, I wouldn't even call that the weave," Brzezinski continued, referring to Trump's term for his discursions. "I would not grace that with the phrase word salad. That just made no sense, and I just don't understand anybody right now who could watch him talk and say, 'Yeah, he definitely makes more sense than the alternative.' Like all these people, I was watching the news yesterday, flipping around, and hearing hosts whining, 'Kamala Harris needs to do more.' Okay, more than everything she's doing? Fine, give me your ideas. But, what? I mean, watch the alternative for two minutes. Groceries, the stomach is speaking? Elon's rocket ships. Cylinders, circles, beautiful circles – what the hell? I mean, that's like an epic weave that he talks about, but his weaves aren't brilliant. You know what he is doing?"
"He's getting through the moment as an aging bulls--- artist, okay?" she added. "He is just getting through the moment, insulting Detroit to its face, and you're right, there is racism in there. There is always a tinge of racism in everything he says."
Brzezinski's rant drew shocked laughter from other panelists on set, and she kept going.
"Let me tell you something," she said. "There is something wrong with people who can watch that and think the alternative, Kamala Harris, isn't more articulate, more prepared, more experienced, more able to – and when I say articulate, that means actually deliver a message to the American people on a certain policy. You know she can. If you can't believe it, and this is your choice, you're lying to yourself. You're going to ruin this country. That's – it's going to be on you. It's going to be on you."
"There's no way you can watch that or any of his speeches and get anything out of it except for a hateful, racist, bigoted, tired, aging, branding – I wouldn't say genius – branding-obsessed narcissist," Brzezinski added.
