A California state senator is being sued for sexual harassment by her former chief of staff who says she pressured him into performing sex acts.
State Sen. Marie Alvarado-Gil, who recently changed her party affiliation from Democrat to Republican, was hit by the lawsuit filed in the Superior Court of Sacramento by Chad Condit.
Politico first reported the claims. More details of the accusations were not immediately known, but Condit states that Alvarado-Gil and the California State Senate violated employment protections.
The Republican’s lawyer, Ognian Gavrilov, told Politico that the claims were made “without any corroboration of evidence.”

He added, “This is an outlandish lawsuit and we’re going to fight it and we’re going to win it.”
Politico reported that the former chief of staff is part of a well-known “political dynasty” in California’s Central Valley, and his father Gary was a congressman.
