Donald Trump complained of political propaganda Tuesday by quoting a conservative political commentator's interview on the Fox News network.
The former president's complaint relied on the words of Glenn Greenwald, the former Intercept columnist who resigned over accusations he was platforming dubious Trump campaign claims, to anchor Jesse Watters, a Fox News anchor fellow Republicans have called a "hack" and a "clown."
"Kamala Harris was basically a national joke," Greenwald told Watters Monday, "until there was an explosion of media propaganda on her behalf about 35 days ago."
Greenwald in his interview with Watters — whose pro-Trump commentary has included conspiracy theory references, contradictory backtracks and the claim that a criminal trial that prevented the former president from golfing represented "cruel and unusual punishment" — spoke out against journalists who don't push back against political power brokers.
"If you have any job at all as a journalist, number one job that you have is to demand accountability and transparency from people who are seeking political power," Greenwald said.

Greenwald pointed to media coverage of President Joe Biden, before his decision this summer to step aside from his reelection campaign, as proof.
"I think the systemic attempt on the part of the media to lie to the country and conceal Joe Biden's true mental state is one of the biggest journalistic scandals in the last several decades," Greenwald said.
Fox News made a $787 million lawsuit settlement with the election software company Dominion over the promotion of Trump's false claims that voting machines were rigged to prevent his 2020 presidential election victory.
Greenwald did not reference that historic lawsuit in his interview, but he did call Harris' press appearances as vice president "a gigantic embarrassment."
It was the latter point Trump noted in his Truth Social post.
