Donald Trump's own fans begged the former president to change his strategy ahead of his weekend MAGA rally in Georgia.
Trump took to Truth Social over the weekend, first to call for a "purge" of dissenting voices within the Republican party and then to announce his arrival for a rally in Georgia.
"I just landed in Atlanta," Trump said in his announcement. "We have a tremendous crowd of people... they literally have tens of thousands of people."

Many from within Trump's own base of support expressed that he should be doing things differently, including referencing his recent interview with Black journalists in which the ex-president refused to answer if Vice President Kamala Harris was in her position merely because of the color of her skin.
DaTexan, @DaTexan, said, "Needed to answer...'Yes, I believe Kamala was hired because of her skin color and gender. That is what Biden said that he was going to choose based on sex and skin color. She was a DEI hire...are you now saying that DEI hire is NEGATIVE? Thought you felt DEI was POSITIVE. Do you think her being a DEI hire is NEGATIVE? I chose JD because of his qualifications, NOT his gender or skin color. Sorry, I'm not a racist choosing person by skin color.'"
Another apparent Trump fan, gma010, @gma010, said, "You need to contact me and let me tell you what I want to hear you talk about, because don’t think you’re doing so good."
RedCaliflady, @RedCaliflady, drew Trump's attention to controversial remarks from his running mate.
"I keep seeing this stuff about JD Vance about childless cat women. Just a thought to squash this. Women that cant have children will be offended so i would say we will do what we can to help people that want to have children. Many women do think its an option to have children due to the horrible economy and non existant ability to buy a home in a decent neighborhood. Some of the things said in the past were not good choices. We want everyone to have these choices. If you want to have children or to buy a home. Its about choices for each American."
Many of the commenters, such as winger, @winger1, called on Trump to stop with personal attacks.
"Please talk about the economy. Please educate America on inflation, how the Harris/Biden energy policy launched inflation. Why everything we use has material costs, processing costs, transportation costs. Harris is attempting to convince voters inflation is due to greedy companies. Educate, educate, educate," the user wrote. "Explain why the Trump/Vance energy policy will have an instant positive impact. Please do not give Kamala’s character your precious time. We know who she is; tell the undecided who Donald Trump is. We need you to land this win."
KymDelisi, @KymDelisi, concurred.
"Please stop with the race, name calling. We need moderates to join us. Kamala has SO many true real issues to talk about policy. She was woth (sic) biden on all of it. Tie her to it. Talk energy and grocery and insurance (mine doubked (sic) no claims) and taxes. Talk parents rights. The issues are where moderates are with us."
~justNancy, @LALady64, echoed those concerns.
"Please tell those who don’t yet know and love you like WE do; tell them exactly what you will do to MAGA. We all know what losers Joe&Kamala are. Don’t even speak thei'r worthless names. Give no power to speaking their names. You got this! But undecided’s NEED TO KNOW YOUR PLANS/GOALS."
mglory, @mglory5, asked Trump to "change" his "strategy."
"Please change your strategy, do not attack her list your accomplishments, and what you will do resist the urge to attack her personally ... attack policies yes, but not her personally," the user wrote.
Teri Courtney, @skinnygrilla, agreed.
"Please President Trump do not call her names. Stick to the problems. Sick Joe. The border problem and the economy."
Marie H, @Marierned, also asked Trump not to talk about Harris' race.
"Sir, listen to your base. Don’t talk about her race etc. Talk about her failures and how YOU will improve life. Stick to facts. No name calling," the user wrote Saturday. "Just keep pointing out what she has said and done and how she is more left than Bernie. They are vile and nasty. But people need to know the past things she has said and how you will fix things. Good luck Sir! Stick to the script!!"
carolesl, @carolesl, called on Trump to pick up some "new material."
"Love you President Trump…and you need to have your speech writers change it up! NEW MATERIAL PLEASE! #TrumpVance2024," the user wrote.
