A former communications strategist for Ben Carson's 2016 presidential campaign dropped a profanity on live TV during a CNN discussion over J.D. Vance and how a surrogate should defend Donald Trump's recent comments.
Jason Osborne joined panelists including political commentator S.E. Cupp, Democratic strategist Aisha Mills and ESPN commentator Bomani Jones on "Newsnight" Thursday night.
The discussion moved to Trump's comments at a conference with the National Association of Black Journalists, in which he questioned Kamala Harris' racial identity. Trump said Wednesday: "I have known her a long time, indirectly, not directly very much. And she was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage.
"I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago, when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. Is she Indian or is she Black?"

When asked how a surrogate should "mitigate" disaster, Osborne didn't mince words.
"I worked for one of those surrogates, Dr. Ben Carson, who I think is an amazing man. And I haven't actually seen any of the comments he's made on this, but clearly this was a mistake. I mean there's no if and or buts about it."
He then referenced fellow conservative Scott Jennings' comments about Trump's remarks.
"I think Scott Jennings had a great line about it the other night, where, you know, he basically s--- the bed," said Osborne. "And now the question is, 'is he going to roll around in it?'"
Jennings on Wednesday night said Trump "did crap the bed today."
"The only question is whether he's going to roll around in it or get up and change the sheets,” Jennings said.
“My advice would be: get up and change the sheets."
On Thursday, Jones quickly responded to Osborne, saying "That's exactly what [Trump's] going to do," implying he will roll around in the sheets.
"Well it appears so," added Osborne. "I mean, you want these stories to go away and I just don't know how it goes away."
