Donald Trump thanked a chart about immigration for sparing his life from an attempted assassin during his first public appearance in Pennsylvania since the the shooting earlier this month, eliciting odd reactions on social media.
“You know this chart saved my life!” Trump declared, nearly shouting. “I love that chart. I’m going sleep with that chart for the rest of my life!”
At the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump turned his head toward the chart – which was displayed on a large digital screen at the event – and was grazed by a bullet, according to the FBI. A former fire chief, Corey Comperatore, was killed in the shooting and several other attendees were injured.
After praising Trump, he beckoned on stage the staffer responsible for pulling up the chart, calling her “a computer genius.”
