House Republicans infuriated former President Donald Trump's MAGA base Friday by urging President Joe Biden's Cabinet to declare him unfit to serve.
Rep. Chip Roy (TX) Friday afternoon submitted a resolution to invoke the 25th Amendment on the heels of a presidential election debate against Trump that political analysts describe as a failure for Biden.
"Biden has repeatedly and publicly demonstrated his inability to discharge the powers and duties of the Presidency, including, among others, the powers and duties of the Commander-in-Chief," wrote Roy in his resolution.
Steve Bannon, Trump's former campaign adviser slated to head to jail next week on contempt of Congress charges, told viewers of his conservative podcast War Room that Biden's position in the White House imperiled the nation.
“This Biden radical regime that has put the nation in jeopardy," said Bannon. "We have a national security issue that’s going to lead to a constitutional crisis on the 25th Amendment.”
And House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) threw tepid support behind Roy's resolution Friday in an interview with Politico.
"I would ask the Cabinet members to search their hearts.…And we hope that they will do their duty," Johnson told Politico. "If I were in the Cabinet…I would be having that discussion with my colleagues."
Conservative pundit Ben Shapiro claimed Friday it was Democrats' duty to urge the Cabinet to act.
"Every single Democrat who claims to care about the country -- and who is calling for Biden not to run for re-election -- should be urging his cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment," Shapiro said. "He's the president RIGHT NOW."
But Roy's announcement on social media and subsequent shows of support did not receive the unilateral praise the Texas Republican might have expected.

Indeed, he was soon bombarded with demands from far right that he withdraw the motion and keep Biden in place.
"This is a terrible decision," replied conservative Dominic Michael Tripi. "If Biden’s out, the chances that Trump loses go way up.
"Dude," replied X user John Ferguson. "He’s not running the country, leave him there and we win in Nov."
"NEVER interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake," replied X user @DubiousDoc.
"Way to play into the Democrats’ hands," added X user MistWorks. "Are you working with the Democrats?"
Shapiro was told in no uncertain terms to "hush" and vocal Trump fan Comrade Stump had this to say for all the conservatives pushing the invocation of the 25th Amendment
"Any conservative that wants Biden to 'step down' or invoke the 25th amendment is a r----d," he wrote. "Let Biden Cook for the next four months."
