MANILA, Philippines – Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) is set to ramp up its luxury hotel business.
In a stock exchange filing on Thursday, October 3, RLC said Robinsons Hotels and Resorts is investing P10 billion to add 990 more room keys to its portfolio. The company hopes this will help it become a “key player” in the country’s tourism sector.
“Our growth is closely aligned with the Gokongwei Group’s commitment to offering the best hospitality options across all travel segments,” Robinsons Hotels and Resorts senior vice president Barun Jolly said.
“We are dedicated to delivering elevated luxury and branded stay experiences across the country.”
According to RLC, the strategic investment will help the company complete its NUSTAR Resort complex in Cebu. It will also enable the company to put up a Fili hotel — said to be the only Filipino-owned five-star hotel brand — in RLC’s Bridgetowne township in Metro Manila, where Opus Mall is located.
There is currently one Fili hotel in Cebu, located within the NUSTAR Resort complex.
“Fili is a heartfelt project that celebrates Filipino hospitality while setting a new standard in international luxury,” Jolly said.
The investment will also fund the launch of Grand Summit, one of RLC’s lifestyle hotel brands, in Cebu and Pangasinan. The hotel to be set up in Cebu will also be located within NUSTAR Resort. – Rappler.com
