The major prep race for the Vuelta a Espana this year features 14 World Tour teams and a more varied (read: less climby and more time trially) course than has been the norm over the last several years.
Who might win the GC battle? This is a fairly wide-opn race with ridders who haven’t ridden sine the spring and/or coming off injury. Guys like Thymen Arensman, Cian Uijtdebroecks, Sergio Higuita, and Davide Pigansoli etc but let;’s roll the dice shall we with a guy who if healthy fits this course to a T:
Stage one is an actual flat sprint. No big ramps or walls or anything. Honest. The Burgos plains are known for their wind but that doesn’t seem to be the case today. Let’s go with the Burgos Buster of the moment, the guy who just won the sprinty Vuelta a Castilla y Leon, Caleb Ewan.
