QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) -- The streets of Queens will be closed for The Moon Festival Parade on Saturday, according to the New York Department of Transportation.
The Moon Festival will be held in Flushing, celebrating the important Mid-Autumn Festival for the Asian community.
"Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is the second most important festival besides Lunar New Year in many Asian countries, such as China, Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines," read the shops at Skyview. "It's a reunion time for families, just like Thanksgiving. People celebrate it by gathering for dinners, doing barbeque outdoors, enjoying the full moon, and eating mooncakes."
The Queen's community will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival with Asian ribbon and feather dancing and various foods such as mooncakes, snacks, and teas.
