TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Troy Police Department announced that the investigation into the human remains found at Burden Pond is still ongoing. The police say that a forensic anthropologist analyzing the remains is facilitating with an odontologist to recover dental impressions for further examination to compare with records on file.
Law enforcement reports that with the help of the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center samples will be analyzed to try to identify the DNA of the recovered remains. The anthropologist's final report will give a better understanding and the gender, age, and other identifying characteristics confirmation of the deceased.
Troy Police are also working with members of the New York State Police Forensic Investigations and Cold Case Unit as well as the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office to investigate local missing persons cases that are still open with any connections to Troy or the surrounding area. Police say these efforts will continue until the deceased is identified and an investigation into the death circumstances is completed.
