AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The city of Amsterdam has a new space for people to enjoy the outdoors. The city unveiled a new park behind the library and post office.
It has views of the Chuctanuda Creek and features seating areas and a performance stage. City leaders said they envision the park as a gathering space that offers something for everyone.
"It is a perfect and picturesque picnic venue for the parents who want to cap off or begin a visit with their kids to the library," Mayor Michael Cinquanti said. "As more downtown eateries open, we hope the brickside tables and benches fill up at lunchtime and the string lit promenade and new performance stage will make the park an attractive performance venue for Friday night performances by local artists."
The project was funded through New York State's Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
