GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A new EMS station has officially opened in Guilderland. A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday at Station 3.
It is located near the town golf course with easy access to Routes 20 and 146. The two other full stations are located on Centre Drive and Carman Road.
The EMS department started six years ago and operated out of the fire station. Officials said the new facility will improve response times and make the community safer.
"As the years went by, we needed to give the station back to them and start building our own stations," Guilderland EMS Dir. Jay Tyler said. "We've had our trials and tribulations here, but we have an excellent product here and it's going to serve the community for many years to come."
The cost of the project was covered through federal COVID relief funds.
