GLENVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- More upgrades were unveiled at the Schenectady County ice rink in Glenville. The rink is now equipped with an electric Zamboni.
It is part of a $5 million renovation project. Crews have added four new locker rooms and an activities room. Officials said the rink is growing in popularity with about 500 youth hockey players and thousands more taking part in free skate programs.
"This project alone, with the construction of the new Mohawk River Arena, will make Schenectady County a destination for hockey fans and for sport tourism," rink manager Dennis Kaminsky said.
Construction started in April. The cost of the project is being covered through federal COVID relief funds.
