SHAFTSBURY, Vt. (NEWS10) -- Dozens of veterans gathered at a school board meeting on Tuesday to raise their concerns over whether the Pledge of Allegiance should be led by teachers in the schools of the Southwest Vermont Supervisory Union school district.
The controversial move began last week when Shaftsbury Elementary school parents said students were banned from reciting the pledge.
The district said students and staff currently have the choice to opt out of saying the pledge.
