Schenectady Wing Walk winners announced

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The winners have been announced for the 11th annual Schenectady Wing Walk, which took place on Saturday, October 5. The Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation said a record number of 23 restaurants participated in the event.

"It was a beautiful day to let our Downtown Schenectady restaurants shine,” said Maureen Neufeld, executive director of the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation.  “The selection of eateries in our downtown district add to the vibrant culture of Schenectady, and events like this allow participants to get a glimpse of our public art and visit the incredible shops, businesses, and entertainment venues in our footprint."

Around 2,500 attended the Wing Walk and cast their votes for their favorite wing flavor. Here are the winners.

• People’s Choice (Overall Favorite): The Nest with their Nashville Garlic Parmesan with Ranch
• Most Creative: YaYa’s House of Southern Cuisine with their YaYa’s Family Smothered Wings
• Best Sauce/Rub: Simone’s Kitchen with their Sticky Sumac & Pomegranate BBQ Wings

Other honorable mentions included MILAS with their Harissa Honey Crunch wings, Hunter’s on Jay Tavern with their Honey Chipotle Ginger wings, and 20 North Broadway Tavern with their Squatch wings.

As well as the popular vote, a panel of judges voted on their favorite wings. The judges included Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara, Todd Edwards of the Metroplex Board, and the Tourism Gnome Henry Bellagnome.
