SCHENECTADY, N.Y, (NEWS10) -- GE Aerospace is laying off 72 workers from its Schenectady site. That's according to a WARN notice on the New York State Department of Labor website.
According to the notice, the layoffs will begin to happen on December 31. GE Aerospace has a total of 152 employees at the Schenectady facility.
"We are grateful to the employees in our shared services organization for their dedication and hard work as GE transformed into three publicly traded companies," a GE Aerospace spokesperson told NEWS10.
In April, General Electric completed it's split into three separate companies: GE HealthCare, GE Vernova, and GE Aerospace. The Schenectady site houses both GE Aerospace and GE Vernova.
In July, GE Vernova announced it was adding over 150 new jobs at the Schenectady facility with a $22 million investment. That investment would allow the site to manufacture new advanced generators.
