TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Tatu Tacos & Tequila, located at 100 Congress Street in Troy, is permanently closing its doors. Owners Jennyfur Spaulding and Kareem NeJame made the announcement in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
"We gave everything we had these past five and a half years between Saratoga and Troy, and are so very proud of what we created, but just cannot survive anymore in this current environment," said the owners.
Spaulding and NeJame originally opened Tatu Tacos & Tequila in Saratoga Springs in 2019. They closed that location in December 2021 and opened in Troy in July 2022.
Tatu Tacos & Tequila is known for three things: tacos, tequila and tattoos. The restaurant features original pieces of tattoo art and had tattoo artist pop-ups. The restaurant's last day of dinner service is set for Saturday, October 12.
Tatu Tacos will still be participating in Troy Chowderfest on their patio on Sunday, October 13 from noon to 5 p.m. The restaurant will be having an Art Show & Sale on October 18 with pieces from Spaulding and artwork from the restaurant's collection from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
For its last few weeks, Tatu Tacos will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The menu will be slightly limited and subject to change.
