SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Chad Brown put his stamp on the final day of the 2024 meet at Saratoga Race Course.
The Mechanicville native racked up five wins on Monday's card - including the Grade 1, $300,000 Hopeful Stakes for two-year-olds - to finish the meet with 45 total wins; one shy of the course record, which he owns. Brown was presented with his seventh training title - fourth in a row.
Brown blew away the competition this summer; the next closest trainers on the leaderboard were Michael Maker and Todd Pletcher, who tallied 22 wins.
It's not just Brown's overall win total that was so staggering, but his performance in the meet's biggest races. He racked up 13 graded stakes wins - six Grade 1's - including his first-ever victory in the $500,000 FanDuel Fourstardave.
Jockey Irad Ortiz Jr. also captured the riding title for the third straight year with 52 total wins for the meet.
