WEST MILTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- State Police reported the arrest of a Virginia man for allegedly having weapons and other illegal items. Matthew Sanchez, 28, faces over 18 charges.
Troopers responded to the Naval Nuclear Laboratory at the Kenneth A. Kesselring Site in West Milton on August 3 for reports of weapons found in someone's car. The investigation found that Sanchez was allegedly in possession of a handgun, multiple illegal high-capacity magazines, a ballistic vest, and controlled substances in his car while on the property, according to State Police.
Sanchez was working at the facility as a contractor and the weapons were allegedly found during a routine security inspection. He was arrested on the scene by State Police.
Troopers say they continued their investigation by executing a search warrant at a hotel room Sanchez was renting in Saratoga Springs. In the hotel room, there were allegedly more illegal guns, high-capacity magazines, and controlled substances.
