CROWN POINT, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- According to United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman, a Crown Point man was arrested and charged with threatening President Joe Biden. On Wednesday, Troy Kelly, 19, was arraigned in United States Magistrate Judge Christian F. Hummel's court and charged with one count of making threats against the President of the United States.
Court officials said on May 17, an account on social media platform X responded to President Joe Biden's post, saying, "Gonna put a bullet in your head if I ever catch you." Secret Service members investigated the account and linked it to Kelly.
Kelly confirmed he posted the threat to Secret Service members during an interview at his home in Crown Point. Additionally, Kelly told Secret Service members he made the post because he said it was true.
Court officials said the complaint alleged when Kelly was asked if he still wanted to kill President Biden, Kelly said he would if he could. Kelly was detained and will appear in court again on Friday.
