BEXLEY, Ohio (WCMH) -- Police detained a man suspected of having a gun at Capital University on Saturday, but he was later revealed to be holding a cellphone.
The university sent out a safety alert after the man was seen entering Schaaf Hall, a dorm, at around 4:25 p.m. People near the school were urged to stay inside and lock their doors as Capital's Public Safety and Bexley police were inside the building, but at 5:18 p.m. the school confirmed the scene had been cleared. Multiple people were questioned, according to Bexley police.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspect was actually holding a cellphone and pointing it like a gun. Police are considering charges of inducing panic against the suspect, a Capital University student.
