COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- There is a new place to gather and play for Columbus kids, courtesy of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Jackets Foundation spent the past two days constructing a hockey-themed playground at the Ward Family YCMA on Woodland Avenue. This marks the 13th playground the team has funded throughout central Ohio.
"A couple of days ago if you would've come here, there was a really sad looking playground," Andee Cochren, executive director of the foundation, said. "Kids didn't have a lot of opportunities, and now you see behind us a beautiful brand new playground for not just kids here at the Ward YMCA, but for the community that surrounds here."
Since the Blue Jackets' inception in 2000, the foundation has invested more than $14 million back into the community.
