The company is building a massive EV production facility in Tamil Nadu and has pledged significant investment (up to $2 billion) to establish itself in the region. Recently, a test mule of their VF e34 electric SUV was spotted cruising Indian roads, hinting at a potential future launch.
The VF e34 boasts a 41.9kWh battery pack powering a front-mounted electric motor churning out 150hp and 242Nm of torque. This translates to a claimed NEDC range of 318.6km, offering a decent electric driving experience. Additionally, the VF e34 is said to be compatible with fast chargers, allowing you to juice up the battery from 10% to 70% in just 27 minutes.
Based on the spy shots, the VF e34 appears to be similar in size to popular SUVs like the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. Estimates suggest a length of around 4.3 meters and a decent wheelbase of 2.6 meters. While the test mule was’nt heavily camouflaged, glimpses revealed trendy connected taillights and likely all-LED headlamps.
Though the spy shots don’t offer a peek inside, speculation points towards a feature-rich cabin. Expect a vertically stacked 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display alongside other comfort features.
VinFast remains tight-lipped about the official launch date for the VF e34 in India. However, the test mule sighting suggests the company is actively evaluating the Indian market. It will be fascinating to see how VinFast fares against established Indian EV players like Mahindra and Tata Motors.
