A teenager has died after being hit by a car being driven by a suspected drug driver.
The 15-year-old boy was walking through Andover, Hampshire, when he was hit at 6pm on Saturday evening.
He is believed to have been knocked down by a Ford Fiesta on New Street, near a branch of ATS Tyres.
The teenager was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. It has now been confirmed that he died as a result.
A 29-year-old woman from Andover was taken into custody on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drugs.
She has since been released on bail while investigations continue.
People expressed their shock after news of the boy’s passing emerged.
One person said on social media: ‘This is absolutely awful news. As a parent to a 15 year old I can’t imagine what his parents are going through. My thoughts are with them.’
Another one wrote: ‘This is so sad! Thoughts are with his family at this awful time!’
One said: ‘Such awful news, heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the young boy. I’m sure the impact and loss will ripple out to so many people and this time of year will be forever etched in their memories.’
