Four people have died after an ambulance helicopter crashed in Turkey, killing all onboard.
Two pilots, one doctor and a healthcare worker were taking off from the city of Mugla on their way to pick up a patient in the neighboring province of Antalya on Sunday morning.
But as they were taking off, the helicopter hit the hospital building and crashed into a nearby field.
No one inside the building or on the ground was hurt. The cause of the accident, which took place during heavy fog, was being investigated.
Footage from the site showed debris from the crash scattered around the area outside the hospital building, with several ambulances and emergency teams at the scene.
Emergency response teams, including medical, fire and search-and-rescue units, were dispatched to the scene immediately after the crash.
An official investigation into the cause of the crash has been launched, with authorities working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incident.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan offered his condolences in a statement on his social media, which said: ‘The news of the loss of four of our brothers in the crash of an air ambulance affiliated with our Ministry of Health in Muğla has deeply saddened our hearts.
‘I pray for mercy for our deceased personnel and extend my condolences to their families, colleagues, and the entire health care community.’
