A man has died and a child was left with life-changing injuries following a crash in West Devon.
The horror smash happened near Tavistock, north of Plymouth, shortly before 1pm yesterday.
A 46-year-old local man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
He died after a crash involving a Vauxhall Astra and a Kia Rio at Iron Railings Cross on an unnamed road near Tavistock.
The man had been the front seat passenger in a Kia. His next of kin have been informed, the police said.
Other people were seriously hurt and rushed to the hospital.
Four people were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
One of them is a young child who sustained life-threatening injuries.
Now an investigation has been launched into the fatal crash, with police appealing for witnesses to come forward.
The road remained shut until the night before it was reopened at 12.30am today.
A man in his 30s, from Peterborough, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
He was released on bail pending further investigations, Cornwall and Devon Police confirmed.
