Notting Hill Carnival kicks off on Sunday, August 25, with the vibrant London street party continuing through Monday, August 26.
Attendees are set for a fun bank holiday weekend – as the annual celebration of Caribbean culture weaves its way through W10.
Naturally, though, there’ll be some travel disruption for those trying to reach the carnival, locals who call the area home, and Londoners trying to get from A to B in the vicinity.
And it’s not just public transport, either, as a number of roads will be closed off to make way for the parade.

There will be a number of roads closed from 6am on Sunday, August 25 until 6am on Tuesday, August 26 in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and in Westminster.

There will be traffic diversions in place in certain areas, and parking bays (as well as some bike stands) on streets near the carnival route will be suspended temporarily.

For Kensington and Chelsea, use the council’s online checker to see which roads will be impacted by the festivities.
On carnival days, London Underground will be incredibly busy.
Expect the Central Line and its stations to be particularly rammed on August 25 and August 26 – so, if you can, do keep alternate routes in mind when travelling around.
Transport for London (TfL) advises: ‘Use Paddington or Shepherd’s Bush are larger and less crowded stations to use to get to the event.
‘Avoid using Oxford Circus, Notting Hill Gate, Westbourne Park and Holland Park stations, as they will be extremely busy.’
Various stations near the Notting Hill Carnival route will either be closed or will operate a shorter timetable on the relevant days.

Prefer to ride the bus? You can also expect diversions or route changes on a number of West London buses.
TfL has confirmed: ‘Some bus journeys in West London will take longer due to diversions or routes being stopped short of their destination.’

That said, the Notting Hill Carnival website says that the following bus routes will be affected:
