SAN JOSE — Fourteen residents, including six adults and eight children, were displaced after a fire broke out Saturday at a multi-unit townhouse in East San Jose. Two dogs were killed in the blaze, and one firefighter was injured.
According to the San Jose Fire Department, the fire began around 2:50 p.m., and prompted a two-alarm response. Adjacent structures were evacuated as a precaution.
The injured firefighter sustained burns to his neck and ears. He was transported to a local hospital, treated, and later released.
The Red Cross has been contacted to assist the displaced residents. Animal Control was also involved in the response to the dogs’ deaths.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
