Good Morning. It's Wednesday 12th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road…
Summerville has no plans to quit ER this SummerCrysencio Summerville has 'no plans to force his way out of Elland Road this Summer' according to reports from TEAMtalk, and the Yorkshire Evening Post.
His form last season was sensational, netting 20 goals, nine assists and winning the Championship play of the season accolade. It was widely assumed, after being linked to the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and more recently Brighton, the deadly Dutchman would make a big money move (£25m-£35m) to a top flight club, and Leeds would use some of the monies for the rebuilding process - but what if he stays put?
Leeds need to raise £70m in player transfers to stay the right side of Financial Fair Play. If Summerville stays, it will put more pressure on the club to sell Archie Gray. Georginio Rutter is also a contender to leave Elland Road this Summer, though selling him for a loss won't do their P & L much good. We also need to remember that Summerville only has two years remaining on his contract. The club will get considerably less for him next Summer if he decides to go then.
Leeds are in hot pursuit of Moroccan wingerAccording to Dutch media outlet 'Voetbal Zone', Leeds are in hot pursuit of Moroccan U23 winger. Couhaib Driouech.
The 22yo applies his trade with Excelsior, who, despite his best efforts on the pitch, was unable to save the Eredivisie side them from relegated last season. He is highly regarded in Holland, and has already attracted the attention of Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and Spanish side Sevilla.
Driouech only has twelve months left on his contract, prompting PSV to try their luck with an £850,000 bid which was quickly dismissed. Reports indicate Excelsior are looking for around £3m
Hammer blow to LeedsWest Ham have issued a hands off warning to Leeds Utd (and others) preparing to swoop for highly rated defender Ben Johnson.
The versatile 24yo is out of contract this Summer, and due to leave the London Stadium for pastures new; but in a desperate bid to change his mind, have offered Johnson a new lucrative five year contract.
The details of the proposal are unknown, but the East London outfit are confident a deal can be reached. Rangers and Crystal Palace were also monitoring the former England U21.
