House minority leader assures ‘proper procedure’ to be followed over Leonen impeach rap
MINORITY Leader Joseph Stephen “Caraps” Paduano of the House of Representatives said his bloc will ensure that the “proper procedure” is followed in tackling and deciding on the impeachment complaint filed against Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
During a plenary session on Tuesday, the House referred the complaint to its Committee on Justice, which will determine if the complaint is sufficient in form and substance.
“Ipasisiguro namin sa minoriya na sinusunod ang tamang proseso sa pagtukoy at pagpataw ng desisyon sa kasong ito (We at the minority [bloc] will make sure that the proper procedure is followed in tackling and deciding this complaint),” Paduano was quoted in a statement issued on Wednesday as saying.
The lawmaker also said that every lawmaker from the minority bloc with voting rights in the House Committee on Justice is free to deliver their conscience vote.
