AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas moved back into the top five in the Associated Press Top 25 college football rankings while idle thanks to Ohio State's win over Penn State on Saturday.
The Longhorns jumped one spot to No. 5 following the Nittany Lions' 20-13 loss to the Buckeyes. Penn State dropped from No. 3 to No. 6, and Ohio State, Miami, and Texas moved up a spot. Oregon remained No. 1 and Georgia held at No. 2.

Indiana moved up five slots to No. 8 with a 47-10 win over Michigan State, making the Hoosiers 9-0 for the first time in program history. Tennessee stayed No. 7, Brigham Young stayed No. 9 and Notre Dame slid two spots to No. 10.
Southern Methodist made the biggest jump in this week's rankings, soaring seven to No. 13 after pounding Pitt 48-25. Texas A&M suffered its first Southeastern Conference loss of the season at the hands of South Carolina 44-20 and dropped five to No. 15. Texas Tech upset Iowa State 23-22, sending the Cyclones down six to No. 17. Clemson dropped eight to No. 19 after a 33-21 loss to Louisville.
Army stayed undefeated with a 20-3 win over Air Force and moved up three to No. 18, but the Black Knights will face their biggest test of the year coming up against Notre Dame.
Kansas State dropped five to No. 22 after Houston beat them 24-19 and Vanderbilt made it back to No. 24 after a 17-7 win over Auburn.
The first release of the College Football Playoff committee rankings is Tuesday and will be updated weekly until the 12-team CFP bracket is announced Dec. 8.
