AUSTIN (KXAN) -- A homicide investigation is being conducted in the 12000 block of Research Boulevard in northwest Austin early Tuesday morning, according to the Austin Police Department. That is located just south of McNeil Drive and US-183.
Two people are hurt, and one person is dead, after the incident occurred at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday morning, Austin Police Officer Leah Ratliff said in a media briefing.
Police said they located two victims with "obvious" signs of trauma — one was taken to a local hospital and the other was pronounced deceased at the scene at 3:01 a.m. A third person was also hurt, but took themselves to the hospital.
Austin Police said that this was an isolated incident, and there is no known threat to the public.
This is being investigated as Austin's 49th homicide of the year, according to APD.
