EMPORIA (KSNT) - Visit Emporia announced Monday, Nov. 11 that its director is stepping down to take a new role at a different community organization.
LeLan Dains is leaving his position as Director of Visit Emporia, according to a news release from the organization Monday, after serving in this role since April of 2021. He will take on the role of Executive Director at Emporia Spanish Speakers.
LeLan’s vision and passion have left an indelible mark on Visit Emporia, and while he will be missed, the organization is thrilled to see him take on this vital role within Emporia Spanish Speakers. His commitment to serving the Emporia community will continue in a meaningful way, as he brings his expertise in community-building to foster cross-cultural connections and resources for Spanish-speaking residents.

The news release states that the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce will soon launch a search for a new director of Visit Emporia. The organization is looking for a candidate who "shares the passion, dedication and leadership LeLan brought to the position".
“LeLan has been an invaluable asset to Visit Emporia, and we are deeply grateful for his contributions over the years,” Jeanine McKenna, President of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, said. “We look forward to the next chapter and welcome new ideas and energy as we work to find our next Director to lead Emporia’s tourism efforts.”
