KANSAS (KSNT) - On Sunday, the Kansas Highway Patrol shared that a driver was cited for speeding, improper lane use and child restraint violations in Cloud County.
According to the KHP, Trooper Mai made a traffic stop for a driver who was going 103 mph in a 70 mph zone.
"It’s a crucial reminder that every safety measure counts on the road. Child safety seats are designed to protect our littlest passengers, and at these speeds, every precaution matters," the KHP wrote on social media.
Last year the KHP issued a total of 680 speeding tickets. Of those speeding tickets, 29 were issued for drivers going over 100 mph.
KHP Captain Candice Breshears spoke with KSNT 27 News Anchor David George on March 4 to talk about issues law enforcement is tackling on Kansas’ highways. At the top of the list, Breshears said speeding is one of the more pressing problems being faced by the KHP in the present day.
“Speed has been a hot topic for several years and it’s something that KHP has been tracking and trying to enforce because there are just way too many people going way too fast out on our highways,” Breshears said.
