TOPEKA (KSNT) - Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) is showing off a brand-new pool in the Oakland neighborhood Friday.
The SCP+R posted to social media on Aug. 16 of the newly finished $4 million pool in the Oakland area. The pool will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 24 and will be open for one weekend only from noon to 5 p.m. on Aug. 24 and 25.
Admission to the pool is $3 with those under the age of two getting in for free. All other Shawnee County pools and aquatic centers managed by the SCPT+R closed on Aug. 4 due to the start of the fall school semester.
The new pool has swim lanes, a kid's area, two slides, a small lazy river, diving board, bathhouse and zero-depth entry. People can also bring in a cooler for a $10 fee.
You can find the new pool at 801 NE Poplar Street in the Oakland neighborhood. To learn more about pools and aquatic centers managed by the SCP+R, click here.
