Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, issued a stern warning to Israel, stating that Tehran would retaliate strongly if Israel launched any attack against Iran. Araghchi made the statement during his visit to Beirut, where he met with Lebanese officials.
Araghchi’s visit came shortly after Iran fired at least 180 missiles into Israel, marking the latest in a series of escalating hostilities that could potentially lead to a broader conflict in the Middle East. The situation has significantly raised tensions in the region.
In Beirut, Araghchi emphasized that any move by Israel against Iran would be met with a retaliation stronger than previous ones. His comments followed discussions with Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri, amid rising regional instability.
“If the Israeli entity takes any step or measure against us, our retaliation will be stronger than the previous one,” Araghchi said.
In response to these tensions, Israel launched a series of airstrikes targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut, where the attacks caused significant damage and disruption. The strikes reportedly led to the closure of a major border crossing between Lebanon and Syria, affecting tens of thousands of people fleeing the violence.
The Israeli military also confirmed that one of its strikes had killed Mohammed Rashid Skafi, a high-ranking Hezbollah official responsible for the group’s communications division. Israel stated that Skafi was involved in smuggling military equipment across the Lebanon-Syria border, further intensifying the conflict.
