Officials in Pakistan have reported that at least 68 people, including 32 children, have lost their lives due to ongoing floods in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Pakistani media reported on Friday, August 30, that the floods had destroyed hundreds of homes in the northwest of the country.
According to reports, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has experienced heavy rains and resulting floods over the past four days.
Local sources in the province have also indicated that 12 members of a single family are among the casualties of this event.
According to Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, the floods have injured 117 and damaged 200 homes completely or partially.
Earlier, Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority had stated that at least 245 people, including 121 children and 48 women, lost their lives due to recent monsoon rains and subsequent flooding in recent weeks.
Furthermore, according to the National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan, these individuals lost their lives due to incidents such as heavy rainfall, landslides, house collapses, flooding, and lightning strikes.
Pakistan faces recurring challenges with climate-related disasters, highlighting the urgent need for robust disaster management strategies and climate adaptation measures to mitigate the impact of such deadly events in the future.
