WYANDOTTE, Okla. - A due process hearing scheduled for today (Jan. 6) regarding embattled special education teacher Jennifer Enyart has been canceled after she resigned from her position.
Jennifer Enyart, 44, and her husband Keith Enyart, 52, were federally indicted on charges of child neglect and child abuse in Indian Country. Jennifer faces an additional charge of assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm for allegedly using a stun gun on their son’s genitals.
The school placed her on administrative leave on September 3, 2024.
Brad Wade, Wyandotte Schools Superintendent, recommended the Wyandotte Board of Education terminate Jennifer Enyart’s employment during a special school board meeting held in December.
Her appeal hearing was set for today (Jan. 6), but Enyart submitted her resignation effective today, Wade said.
Enyart's husband, Keith, who was also employed by the school district as a support staff member, was fired at the December meeting.
Jennifer Enyart's resignation comes off the heels of her teaching certificate being suspended at the December 19 state school board meeting.
According to a 6-page federal criminal complaint and arrest affidavit, Jennifer Enyart is accused of using a stun gun on her 15-year-old mentally disabled son’s genitals. A child abuse pediatric examination report showed that several of the child’s injuries were consistent with the use of a “taser or stun gun,” court records show. The report concluded the teen’s injuries were “likely the result of child abuse.”
Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact the Children’s Advocacy Center of Ottawa County at (918) 540-1621 if they suspect any child is a victim of abuse.
