Oklahoma City opens outreach offices for those affected by tornadoes

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - The City of Oklahoma City is opening two outreach offices on Thursday and Friday to help those affected by the recent tornadoes.

On November 3, multiple homes in in Oklahoma City were leveled when an EF-3 tornado hit early in the morning. Officials say the tornadoes destroyed around 50 OKC buildings, 57 buildings were seriously damaged and 71 had minor damage.

According to the City, the offices will help residents access social services and learn more about the rebuilding process.

The outreach office hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. November 7 and 8 at two locations:

• Harmony Christian Church, 7100 S Choctaw Rd.
• Windwood Free Will Baptist Church, 5300 SE 89th St.

“Our priority is to help Oklahoma City residents connect with services and get back into a home,” Mayor David Holt said. “The easier we can make the recovery process for our residents the better.”

Officials say EMBARK is offering free rides from the neighborhoods impacted by the storms to the resource centers.

The outreach offices will provide the following information and resources:

• Fencing, demolition and building permits.
• Contractor information.
• Debris removal details and other information from Utilities.
• OG&E information.
• Oklahoma Insurance Department.
• Consumer protection information from the Attorney General’s Office.
• Oklahoma City-County Health Department.
• Social Services.
