EDMOND, Okla. (KFOR)— An Edmond woman is hoping someone will recognize the man caught on camera hitting and damaging her car at a gas station, before driving off without stopping.
Tamarea Collins told News 4 a man driving a truck hit her car and drove off while she was filling up her car at an Edmond gas station last month.
“It had been a long day at work,” Collins said. “It was about 6:30 p.m. when I pulled into the OnCue on 33rd and Bryant.”
It all happened in just a matter of seconds.
“I had just put the nozzle into my vehicle, I think it only pumped 22 cents,” Collins said. “And he pulls away from his pump and just rammed my car.”
The store’s surveillance cameras captured her disbelief. Collins put her hands in the air as the man immediately drove away without saying a word to her.
“I was like… what? Just what is going on,” she said. “There were a lot of bystanders and it was a real spectacle. And they were all kind of in disbelief.”
The man managed to cause nearly $10,000 in damage to her car.
“The whole front end on the driver's side, the light, the fender right above the wheel, there's some significant damage,” Collins said.
She contacted Edmond Police, who got ahold of the store’s surveillance video, and pictures of the man in the truck.
They show he was driving a brown or gray Chevrolet Silverado z71, with a missing front headlight and damage to the front right fender and bumper. The truck also had rear mud flaps.
The man was wearing a gray graphic tree that said “believe in yourself” and an orange Oklahoma City Thunder hat.
With the man still not identified, Collins had to pay a deductible with her own insurance to get her car fixed.
She hopes someone out there can help find the man.
“Just… why,” she said. “That's not the responsible thing to do. We could have worked it out.”
If you know anything about what happened, call the Edmond Police Department.
